Best Practices for Sleeving Trading Cards

Always Use Penny Sleeves

Place cards in a penny sleeve before inserting into a toploader to prevent scratches and surface damage.

Shop Penny Sleeves →

Measure Thickness First

Use a caliper or ruler to measure card thickness in PT or inches before selecting a toploader size.

Snug but Not Tight

Cards should slide in smoothly without force. If you must push hard, size up.

Common Collector Mistakes

Forcing a Fit

Never jam a card into a tight toploader. This damages corners and edges.

Skipping the Penny Sleeve

Cards touching plastic directly collect micro-scratches. Sleeve first.

Using Oversized Loaders

Extra space lets cards move and round corners. Match PT closely.

Stacking Multiple Cards

Avoid stacking valuable cards in one toploader. Safer for bulk only.

The 40pt and 35pt toploaders are the best out there. They hold regular thickness cards such as topps. You can use them for chrome type cards but are a little snug

The 55pt toploaders are great for cards such as bowman chrome and topps chrome.

I recommend any of cardshellz toploaders. The seamless frame look make even the presentation of any cards look great.
